Writer's picture: WeatherSDWeatherSD

The coldest air of the season has brought feels like temperatures down into the 40s below zero during Sunday night and into Monday morning.

Air temperatures are not expected to do much, with highs only into the single digits to teens below zero for Monday and continued dangerous feels like temperatures or wind chills throughout the day.

Extreme cold warnings are up for the northern and western regions of the state, and cold weather advisories are up for the southwest. For those in the warning area, frostbite on exposed skin could occur in as little as 10 minutes. Dress in layers today, including a hat, face mask, and thick gloves when outdoors.

Many schools planning to be in succession were canceled today because of the dangerous temperatures.
