Growing Season Ending and Snow Coming?

South Dakota's growing season looks to end on Sunday night into early Monday morning.

The National Weather Service has placed everyone in South Dakota, besides the Black Hills (as they have already seen freezing temperatures), under a Freeze Warning (dark blue on the map below). These warnings extend toward Kansas as a high-pressure system is pushing cold temperatures southward.

If you do not like cold temperatures, do not worry. Warmer weather arrives mid-week, with highs in the 60s and 70s and overnight lows in the 40s and 50s.

The first chance of precipitation in a while will arrive by next weekend. The ECMWF (EURO) weather models show that temperatures might be cool enough to support some very minor amounts of snow in the Black Hills. Stay tuned for more details later.
