On Thursday, parts of western South Dakota, eastern Montana, and eastern Wyoming are forecast to experience air temperatures in the mid-100s.
The National Weather Service has placed several counties in central and western South Dakota under Heat Advisories (orange areas on the map below) as it feels like temperatures are expected to be around 100 degrees or higher. In Montana, excessive heat warnings (pink areas on the map below) are up as air temperatures are forecast to be over 105 degrees.
The National Weather Service advises drinking plenty of fluids, staying in an air-conditioned room, staying out of the sun, and checking up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
