Heavy Rain Brings Additional Flooding Concerns

Additional heavy rains are forecast for tonight and Friday evening and night for those in eastern South Dakota. The National Weather Service has put counties in the southeast, east-central, and parts of northeast regions of the state under Flood Watches through Saturday.

Already, the region has seen rainfall of an inch or more, which is already creating some issues on rural roads. Turner County Emergency Management shared this picture of water over a gravel road on the county's western end. The agency also reports several spots in Salem and Childstown Townships that are seeing additional flooding issues.

Forecast models are bringing additional inches to the region through tonight and Friday as several rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected.
