A powerful severe thunderstorm on Tuesday evening dropped hailstones that measured over a baseball's size and dropped one tornado in central South Dakota.
Thunderstorms that developed northwest of Pierre during the first part of the evening hours moved southeast, bringing significant hail and even one tornado with them.

The National Weather Service in Aberdeen received a number of large hail reports in Pierre measuring up to 3 inches in diameter. Fort Pierre also receive large hail with baseball size (2.75") reported in the town.
Besides the large hail, the public reported a tornado about 10 to 11 miles south of Fort Pierre near the Stanley and Lyman County line.

The state's central region was not alone, as parts of southwest South Dakota saw hail to the size of golf balls (1.75") north of Pine Ridge during the afternoon hours.
