Quick Changes to Wintry Conditions

On Saturday morning, those traveling on Interstate 90 found themselves with quick changes in the weather and road conditions. Below is the South Dakota Department of Transportation's webcam of Interstate 90 near Kimball on Saturday morning. About 25 miles away in Plankinton, conditions are entirely different, with cleared roads and no snow in the ditch.

This is expected to continue with two waves of snow this weekend. A quick cut off of snow is expected as a narrow band of snow will continue this morning before another round area of snow develops later this evening. The second wave is forecast to cover more western and central South Dakota parts before clearing out by Sunday afternoon. Drier air in the northeast and east-central will keep those areas dry, with no accumulations expected.
