On Wednesday afternoon, a few thunderstorms in southwest South Dakota brought very large hail between the Martin and Pine Ridge areas.
About 8 miles southwest of Swett in Bennett County, mostly golf ball size with a few baseball size hail was reported from a severe thunderstorm at 1:35 pm MDT. As the storm continued eastward in Bennett County, another report of golf ball size hail was recorded about 3 miles southwest of Swett at 1:50 pm.
Storm sirens were activated in the community of Martin as a precautionary measure as the storm continued eastward along and south of US Highway 18.
