Winter returns for the start of April, causing motorists to find themselves in the ditch or worse. The South Dakota Highway Patrol posted this image on their Facebook account of the slushy and icy conditions on Interstate 29 near Summit during Tuesday afternoon.

Another motorist in Day County found them in the water after sliding off the road near 129th Street near 440th Avenue near Roslyn. The Day County Sheriff's Office reported no injuries in this accident and reminded drivers to slow down.

Then, on Tuesday morning, a semi went into the ditch in Kingsbury County due to the slush and snow on the highways.

Many schools in the area either called class off completely or closed their doors early due to the wintry conditions. More precipitation is expected later today and continuing into tonight and Wednesday.
