On Monday afternoon, a thunderstorm dropped a twister near US Highway 212 in Butte County.
A storm chaser in the area reported a tornado on the ground for about five minutes, starting just south of SD Highway 212, crossing the highway, and then lifting on the north side of the highway.
The tornado touched down about 18 miles southeast of Hoover, South Dakota, at approximately 12:29 p.m. MDT on Monday afternoon.
The National Weather Service in Rapid City kept a tornado warning for an additional hour as the radar continued to show a possible tornado from the storm.
In other severe weather reports, a trained weather spotter reported a thunderstorm wind gust of 65mph about 19 miles northeast of Creighton in Pennington County.
