While winter is expected to return for those in the Black Hills and into parts of western South Dakota, the southeast has the chance for strong thunderstorms.

A cold front, along with a low-pressure system, will move through the region. Ahead of the system, the best risk of strong to severe thunderstorms is possible. Depending on the location of the low-pressure system set up this afternoon, it will have a detrimental on the development of these storms. The greatest risk for severe weather is across Iowa and Nebraska.

On the other side of the system, snow is expected in the Black Hills, with a few locations seeing snowfall amounts over six inches. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the northern Black Hills for today and into tonight.

A mixture of rain and snow is expected for the northwest later in the morning and into tonight, but snowfall amounts are expected to be minor, if at all. The southwest could see snowflakes mixing with the rain showers later this evening, with snow accumulations up to an inch in the southwest corner.
