A wildland fire has burned nearly 300 acres near the Kyle area in southwest South Dakota since Saturday morning. Four homes have been evacuated for safety reasons.
According to Oglala Sioux Tribe Emergency Management, multiple fire agencies continue to fight the fire and conduct mop-up operations. On Saturday morning, the fire was reported to be 75 percent contained.
Authorities are asking motorists traveling on BIA 2, BIA 4, and BIA 39 to use caution as emergency vehicles are still working in the area.
The area is under a Red Flag Warning as dangerous fire weather continues through Saturday because of dry conditions, warm temperatures, and low humidity.
