Parts of the Black Hills are under winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories that will remain in effect this afternoon and continue through Wednesday morning.

Snowfall amounts will range from 8 to 15 inches for higher elevations of northern Black Hills, where a Winter Storm Warning is in effect. Across the advisory areas of the northern foothills and central Black Hills, snow is forecast to be from 1 to 6 inches, with some isolated higher amounts.

Chances of precipitation will spread across the state throughout the day as the storm system continues eastward.

The best chance of rain accumulation will be across western South Dakota as the Euro and American weather models show gaps in rainfall amounts for the eastern half of the state.

Check out the Local 10-Day Forecast for detailed weather forecasts for your part of South Dakota.
